Day 1 - Arrive Kunming
On arrival into Kunming, you will be met by your China Holidays guide and will be transferred to your hotel for two nights.
Day 2 - Kunming
After breakfast
at your hotel you will be met by your guide and depart to visit to the
Stone Forest, a natural wonder of grey limestone pillars formed in
earlier geological time by the sea, rain and wind. There will be a
performance of singing and dancing by the Sani people, one of China's
fascinating ethnic minority people. On returning to the city there will
be time for a city tour taking in the sights and sounds of Kunming.

Day 3 - Kunming / Dali
This morning
you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Dali; where on
arrival you will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide and
depart for a tour of Dali, home to the Bai minority. You will visit the
Three Pagodas of the Chongshen Temple and view snow capped Cangshan
Mountain. Dali is famous for its marble, clothes shops, jewellery and
batik and there will be time to stop and browse for mementos before
arriving at your hotel where you will stay two nights. (B/L)
Day 4 - Dali
Today a full day
touring in and around Dali. There will be a cruise on Erhai Lake, a
250sq. km. ear-shaped lake with unique fishing styles and magnificent
scenery. There will also be a visit to Xizhou Township, 18km. north of
Dali, where you will view some of the Bai architecture. (B/L)
Day 5 - Dali / Lijiang
After
breakfast, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Lijiang, set
high amongst dramatic mountain scenery near the border with Tibet. Here
you will visit the ancient Lijiang town and experience the Naxi
minority culture. The town is a delightful maze of cobbled streets,
wooden buildings, canals and 'hurly-burly' of market life. On completion
of the tour you will be transferred to your hotel where you will spend
two nights. (B/L)
Day 6 - Lijiang
Lijiang's
inhabitants, the Naxi people are descendants of Tibetan nomads. You will
continue touring in and around Lijiang today with sightseeing that
includes the Black Dragon Pool Park; the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain; the
Long Quan Naxi ethnic village and the Museum of Naxi Culture. (B/L)
Day 7 - Lijiang / Shangri-La (Zhongdian)
After
breakfast at your hotel you will embark on a 198km coach journey,
through forest reserves that follow the extreme upper reaches of the
Yangtze River, taking you eventually to Zhongdian, a quiet and peaceful
location close to the Tibetan border. Then proceed on with a visit to
the First Bend of the Yangtze River. The entire 16km gorge rises 3900m
from its base to the elevated snow-capped mountains. Late afternoon
transfer to your hotel where you will stay three nights. (B/L)
Day 8 - Shangri-La (Zhongdian)
Your sightseeing
today will take you on a full day excursion around Zhongdian, which
marks the start of the Tibetan world. Take in the wonders of the
Shangri-La National Park including Pu Da Cuo, Bita Lake, the Shu Du Lake
and the village of Tibetan Culture. (B/L)
Day 9 - Shangri-La (Zhongdian)
We continue our
sightseeing today with a visit to the beautiful Valley of the Blue Moon,
with its towering snowy peaks, forsaken Buddhist monasteries and lush
vegetation. Take a cable car ride to the top of Shika Mountain, 4450m
above sea-level, and enjoy the vista of the surrounding seven mountain
tops. (B/L)
Day 10 - Shangri-La (Zhongdian) / Kunming
On your final
day in Shangri-La, experience the Tibetan Minority Culture at the
ancient Shangri-La town of Dukezong, and the Guihua Temple. After lunch,
you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Kunming. Upon
arrival, your friendly China Holidays Guide will be waiting for you and
will transfer you to your hotel for overnight. In the evening enjoy a
sample of the delicious local speciality 'Accoss the Bridge Noodles'.

Day 11 - Kunming / Lhasa
Morning take
the flight from Kunming to Lhasa. Upon arrival you will be met by your
local China Holidays guide and transferred to the your hotel where you
will spend two nights. The airport is some 100kilometres from the city
so there will be some time to relax and take in the scenery along the
way. (B/L)
Day 12 - Lhasa
Today you will
depart to visit the vast and imposing Potala Palace and in the
afternoon a visit to the Jorkhang Temple and Barkhore Street. (B/L)
Day 13 - Lhasa / Tsedang
Early this
morning you will depart for Tsedang. The journey is about 220km and will
take a little over 3 hours. Here you will visit Samye, the first
monastery in Tibet, there will also be a visit to the first palace in
Tibet, Yombulakang, the first farmland and the Changzu Temple - also
called the Pearl Monastery. You will then be transferred to the your
hotel where you will stay one night. (B/L/D)
Day 14 - Tsedang / Gyantse
You will depart
to Gyantse today. Gyantse is a well-known Tibetan cultural town in the
South West of Tibet. This is a journey of some 350kms with some testing
road conditions. On the way to Gyantse, you will cross two big passes,
the Gangbula and Karula passes, and a most wonderful scenic spot, the
holy lake - Yomdrok Lake which covers some 880 square kilometres. On
arrival into Gyantse you will be transferred to your hotel for
overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 15 - Gyantse / Shigatse
Gyantse is well
known for its' Kumbu Monastery and the Ruins of Zhongshan. Gyantse is
also called "Hero Town" because of its defence against the invading
British army in 1904. The murals in the Kumbu Monastery are highly
regarded and treasured. When visiting the Zhongshan Ruins you can find
the feature view of the old county in Tibet. After lunch you will depart
for Shigatse where you will spend one night at the your hotel. Then
visit Tashilunpo Monastery which is the residence of Banchan of all
ages. (B/L/D)
Day 16 - Shigatse / Lhasa
This morning you
will depart back to Lhasa by road following the Yaluzhangbu River. The
journey takes about 5 hours and on arrival you will check into the your
hotel for two nights. (B/L)
Day 17 - Lhasa
This morning
you will continue your tour with a visit to the Nobulingka, this was
previously the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama and then a visit to the
Deprung Monastery. Tonight you will enjoy a Tibetan Flavor Meal and a
Tibetan Dance Performance. (B/L/D)
Day 18 - Lhasa / Chengdu
There will be
some free time in Lhasa to explore at your own pace before you are
transferred to the airport for your flight to Chengdu. On arrival you
will be met by your friendly China Holidays guide who will transfer you
to your hotel where you will spend one night. (B)
Day 19 - Chengdu / Danba
In the morning
you will take a long bus journey to Danba. En route you can enjoy the
landscape of Honghe Valley, overlook Ya'an, where the world's first
Giant Panda was found, drive through the longest tunnel in China, and
arrive in Danba. Here you will visit Tibetan villiage houses. Spend the
night in your hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 20 - Danba / Mt. Siguniang
After breakfast,
arrive Mt. Siguniang and visit Changping Valley. Visit Tibetan Diaolou,
multi-storeyed defensive villiage houses. And then you can choose
either way of riding a horse or walking to go sightseeing (riding cost
is not included). Spend the night in your hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 21 - Mt. Siguniang / Danba
You will feel
the profound Tibetan culture again today by visiting Shuangqiao Valley,
and various scenic sights. Then drive back to Danba Dongnvguo Hotel or
similar to spend the night. (B/L/D)
Day 22 - Danba / Ya'an
You farewell this mysterious Tibetan world morning and travel Ya'an and check into your hotel for the night. (B/L/D)
Day 23 - Ya'an / Mt. Emei
In the
morning, travel to Mt. Emei, one of Buddhism's most sacred and China's
most impressive mountains. Change to the local bus to the mountain area.
Visit the Ten-thousand-year Monastery by cable car (up). Have a nice
trekking in Qingyinge, Yixiantian, and Monkey Area. Then drive to your
hotel where you will stay overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 24 - Mt. Emei / Leshan / Chengdu
After
breakfast, depart Mt. Emei as you will travel back to Chengdu. En route
you will visit the Leshan Stone Carving Buddha which is 71 meters high.
And then drive to Huanglongxi Old Town which has long history about 100
years. After so many years, the town still keeps the Chinese traditional
architecture style. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel
where you will stay two nights. This evening you will enjoy a classic
Sichuan hotpot. (B/L/D)
Day 25 - Chengdu
This morning you
will depart to visit the renowned Panda Research Base for a close up
view of these fascinating and beautiful creatures. Then a visit to the
Jinsha Museum and a local Tea House. Then you will get the opportunity
to see a Sichuan Opera performance. (B/L/D)
Day 26 - Depart Chengdu
You will farewell Chengdu this morning as your guide meets you and transfers you to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
