Yandang‑Mountain

Yandang Mountain World Geopark 雁 荡山国家地质公园 mainly locats in Yueqing of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province China and part of it locates in Yongjia County and Wenling City, which is 300 km away from Hangzhou, 70 km away from Wenzhou. The total area of World Geopark is 294.6 square kilometers and it is formed by three parks. The main park includes Lingfeng Peak, the Sanzhe Waterfall, Lingyan Rocks, Xiansheng Gate, Yangjiao Bridge — Dragon Lake, Yanjiao Cave scenic zone etc. The eastern park includes Fangshan Mountain, Changyu Cave. The western park is Nanxi River. Yandang Mountain with an elevation of 1,056.6 meters belongs to the large-scale coastal mountain scenic area.

Yandang Mountain is the typical representative of ancient rhyolite volcano suited at the edge of the volcano area Asia Continent, which is a natural museum of rhyolite geology and rocks. The mountains and rocks of Mt. Yandang had recorded the history of evolution for a revival volcano between 128 million years and 108 million years ago. The geology traces of Yandang Mountain were called the typical examples of formation and evolution modes for revival volcano suited at the edge of Asia-Europe Continent at late period of Mesozonic Era, which recorded the complete geology evolution product of volcano’s eruption, contamination and steeping of the acid magma, therefore, it reserved an eternal document on researching volcano of Mesozonic Era for the world.

It was said for ancient people that it waste life if you haven’t visited Yandang Mountain, however, it is said that it is a waste of life if you haven’t visited night view of Yandang Mountain nowadays.
