Let’s face it, most people are attracted to things they can’t have, it just makes them want it even more, and this is no different for those American citizens who are prohibited from playing at online casino gambling websites. The more out of reach something is the more desirable it becomes. Even though the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has been passed, this does not mean that those online gambling fanatics are just going to give up the chance to try their luck at online gambling, of course not, they are going to devise a plan to work around it and still have some fun gambling online, legally or not and possibly wind themselves in greater hot water than they would have if gambling were legally policed. With standards that are enforced by law with regards to casino games and the way in which they are run we would find far fewer Americans who were being conned out of their hard earned money by betting at these gambling websites that are run from offshore companies that are only too glad to scam them out of their US currency.

Surely the US government should reconsider its policy on online gambling and follow the UK by regulating all online gambling activities. Perhaps the US government should enforce some regulations similar to the UK online gambling regulations act, such as licensing agreements, legal registration of online casino companies and permits to operate such online casinos, would create a safe environment for American citizens who would like to participate at online gambling casinos, not to mention the fiscal revenues that the US government will benefit from these permits and licenses.

The US government will have to give a great deal of thought and planning regarding its policy as to what should be included in the regulations act of online gambling if they are to ensure a safe environment for its citizens. Strict regulations should be enforced prohibiting persons under the age of eighteen from entering an online casino, and also the issue of problem gamblers should be addressed. A while back these tasks would have been almost impossible, but now thanks to the ever advancing modern technology they can much more easily be accomplished.

The USA is famous for its ‘freedom”; freedom of speech, freedom of choice, so why not let the citizens have the opportunity to decide for themselves whether they want to gamble at an online casino or not. Why not give them the freedom to choose to gamble in the comfort of their own home or in a land based casino. After all it is their right to have a choice as to whether they want to spend their time and money gambling at an online casino. Yes of course we should impinge strict regulations on online gambling and a task force to ensure that these rules are enforced will have to be created before this can become a reality, but the US government owes it to its citizens to be given the freedom to choose, so why not follow the UK and regulate the online gambling activities and give the citizens this right.
